DONE4 CPH-LHR-LAX-SYD-LHR-CPH [...] The oneworld tool validates the itinerary but quotes a crazy price. Removing the second LHR stop dramatically reduces the fare.
I received a response from the BA European RTW team saying that my route is valid for DONE4 despite the online tool quoting approx 2x the correct fare. They agree there is a bug in this. They (and I) have reported it to the oneworld help desk.
