I will be going to Buenos Aires for a long weekend and am debating where to stay, whether to stay at one of the luxury hotels such as the Four Seasons or Park Hyatt, or just stay with a friend and just pocket the savings to spend shopping or on food.

My main reason and concern is that the hotels in BA are all outrageously priced IMO, they range from $500 to $700 nightly for STANDARD guest rooms. I do not think Buenos Aires is the type of place nor these hotels really merit these types of prices, but could be wrong. Do they have that va va voom aspect that will make you feel fine about dropping 2 grand for a long weekend or I will I feel ripped off and underwhelmed?
