There is an earlier flight to DEL but that's only an A330, and I specifically want a 777, so it's not an option.
To be honest, there is very little difference between the A330 and B777 experience on a short flight like DXB-DEL. By the time the meal service is over and done with, you are pretty much left with 30 minutes to do anything before the pre-arrival rituals begin.
I used to share your disdain for the Emirates A330s, but I have now accepted them on Dubai - India routes when the option would be a longer layover. YMMV though.
