These are good points, and I agree. At this point, it's impossible to find quick turns of any distance, much less that required by OP, at much less than buy-up cost. Even if your time is not worth much ....

But there is also another perspective that I take, and put into practice when I can ... The $399 is a sunk cost. It will be spent one way or another. Then I look (and this is certainly easier if you are doing this a few weeks ahead) for cheap fares to fun (and, this time of year, warmer) places. E.g., wasn't that hard to see 28 hours with overnight in FLL, food, lodging, taxis, parking included, for 2 for <$800. (Less if you do it as 1.) Subtract out the $400 sunk cost and you have a deal too good to refuse. Works best at high status levels since the flights are likely in F; if you already have Club membership for snacks and airport wine and beer ....
