By virtual that CX always reserve 1 extra award seat for its own elites, it eliminates the possibility that CX would let AA have the last available award seat. Unless CX initiate the release, there is no way AA can request that.

We need to remember, CX takes very good care of its MPC Diamonds who often get op-ups. If the plane is very full in Y, MPC Diamonds get opt upped to J, and if J is also full, they are upped to F - the check in time determines the line up.
