Availability around the holidays is always hard to come by, but as
guv1976 points out, with AA you can do domestic stopovers on one-ways and I believe that HNL counts as a domestic gateway.
It's a bit more round-about, and also hard to come by, but TN flies LAX-PPT-AKL and then QF from AKL-Australia.
