It is not time-consuming at all. There is no exit immigration when leaving the US (other than the airline staff checking your documents at the check-in counter) so a domestic -> international connection is basically exactly the same as a domestic -> domestic connection. Your bags will be checked through. The most time-consuming part will probably be changing terminals at DFW.
