I found iTunes Match with iCloud a huge battery drain on my iPhone, regardless of the iOS. So while I upload all my songs with iTunes active on my Macbook, don't use iCloud for songs on my devices.

But I do find iCloud syn with MacBook and devices very convenient. While the usb sync is easy, the iCloud sync is seamless and almost instantaneous....so if iCloud sucks battery with iOS 6, enough of reason to pass for now.
