OK, now I'm confused.

One of our (reliable) resident TSOs has mentioned in recent posts the extreme difficulties in firing TSA employees for misconduct.

So isn't it a bit disingenuous for a TSA spokesman to say that Magnuson was 'fired' when IIRC, Magnuson has 7 days to appeal the firing and longer if the union comes to back him up (TSA's new excuse for not being able to fire anyone - the union won't allow it). So he can't possibly have been really fired - maybe the process has been initiated, maybe he will be given an opportunity to 'resign'.

It also brings up another question: does TSA fire someone (Magnuson) based solely on suspicion of wrong-doing? Magnuson has been arrested, but he has not yet had his day in court. We have no way of knowing at this time whether or not he will be found guilty. If he is found innocent, will TSA then reinstate him with back pay? Will he be able to sue TSA for firing him and collect $$$ of taxpayers' money in settlement?
