If someone travels on CX award HKG-AMS scheduled to arrive AMS at 6.25am, is it safe to buy a ticket for onward journey to CDG on AF/KL that departs at 8 am?

Is the minimum connection time 90 min?

I understand that luggage can be interlined. But what if CX is late in arriving? It will not be on one PNR as the CX flight HKG-AMS is an award whereas AMS-CDG is a cheap revenue ticket.

Or should one fly AMS-CDG later just to be safe?
