Every week or so I get solicited for TATL private jet, Gulfstream IV capacity of maybe 10 or more, costing under $40K all in. At this rate, the cost per person is $8K roundtrip or LESS THAN UA First Class. Does this make sense? Should United care about this kind of alternative service?
Problem is that G IV only sleeps six so you're talking $14k / person if you're expecting flat-bed seats and even then it's cramped compared to international F in a commercial jet. Also try finding 6 people who are willing to shell out $14k each all on the same day and same route
