Fritos in bottom of caserole dish.
Top with shredded lettuce.
Then top with heated Chili of your choice.
Then top with shredded cheese.
Broil until cheese is bubbly and slightly browned.
Hot lettuce?!? Ick.
The trouble making it the way you suggest here is that the Fritos become so wet as to be non-recognizable. I know because I tried it that way.
Best to heat up your chili to the boiling point, pour it over your Fritos, toss on some chopped onion, and allow the cheese to melt naturally.
But, for God's sake, no hot lettuce, please.
