It is an old thread - but in case somebody is looking for the information we just got to the IC Qiandaohu last night (from the IC Hangzhou).

I had the hotel quoting on a Taxi - fare was 1100 Yuan (they also charge you for the return).
Several of the IC employees had been in Qiandaohu and they recommended the bus. It was actually pretty easy.

1. Take Taxi to the Northwest Bus Station in Hangzhou. Cost from the IC around 50 Yuan, took 45 minutes (it is at the opposite end of town)

2. Have the hotel write down in Chinese: please help me buying tickets to ..... When arriving at the Bus Station you will see a big sign outside 'Tickets' (leftmost entrance door). Show your paper to anybody there and they will point you to one of the ticket counters. Cost per ticket was 62 Yuan.

3. Board the bus. Comfortable seats, good pitch, clean. Bus leaves every 30 min at :00 and :30 form early in the morning until around 6 pm. Drive took exactly two hours to the destination (no stops in between, no restrooms on the bus)

4. At the arrival bus station take a taxi (again have the name of the hotel in Chinese, because they will look at you like from a different planet when you say 'Intercontinental'

5. Taxi ride is around 15 min along the lake (should be around 10 km). They asked for 40 Yuan flat (refused to turn on the meter).

Hotel is modern, nice but pretty deserted (early September now) There was only one other guest in the club, 2 or 3 tables occupied at dinner time in each of the two restaurants.
I will post more information in the Intercontinental Royal Ambassador thread in a few days.
