To get to an actual competitive and well-served airport scenario, it's a six hour drive one way by passenger car to Orlando. Moderately competitive would probably be New Orleans, which is still about a four hour drive one way, and I'm not quite hard core enough just yet to start pricing out the Greyhound tickets. No, not Greyhound. Some other bus services. I dont remember the name now, but the company has served NE region for years and just started serving some cities along West Coast. Not sure if it has presence in your locale. You could google bus services between, say, NYC and Philly, or similar city pairs and see if you can unearth the company's name.
