I told them it was for the miles and I was moving my spending to new cards. They made me pick one of the Hawaii cards, I could not have both. Virgin was OK.
Never tell them it's for the miles. In the very lest never tell them it's ONLY for the miles. Learn about the benefits of the card and state those benefits when you talk to the agent. If the benefits are identical like with the 2 Hawaiians tell them you want two separate cards in order to use one for business expenses.
