I also enjoy going to the Alaska Board Room in LAX.
I still visit the LAX SC from time to time, but I find that the BR is usually more peaceful than the SC (which sometimes can be a zoo). Also, it is nice to be able to eat a salad.

The last time I was at the LAX BR, they had a "nacho bar" set up where you could make your own nachos (with chips, cheese, jalapenos, etc). I didn't try it, but it looked pretty good.

Here is a perk that I enjoy - the "staffed bar" is staffed by actual AS employees (not contracted Sodexo workers). Because they are AS employees they are not supposed to accept tips. So the tipping pressure is off.

On a recent trip to the LAX BR, I overheard the bartender say to a customer, "Sorry sir, but we are not allowed to accept tips. If you insist on tipping we will simply donate it to charity."

Nice touch.
