I will still probably go direct to CCU because the DAC option will take me close to 40 hours but this is an interesting angle to flying in to South Asia in general.

the problem with flying DAC-CCU is that the flights are highly unreliable. I was stuck there for about 8 hours past departure both times we did this.. Your best best is to do Jet Airways from DAC-CCU if you have to because they're the only ones who seem to compensate for this.
