United Club Membership Card came a few weeks after MileagePlus Club VISA card

As two posters mentioned, the United Club Membership Card came separately in the mail a few weeks after my United MileagePlus Club VISA card, so now I have the membership card (with star alliance logo) that will get me into partner lounges.

At united club lounges, there is no problem because they can look up my FF number in their computer and verify my photo ID. Partner lounges (e.g. US Airways, or another star alliance lounge) cannot look up my FF number in their computer system so they insist on seeing the United Club Membership Card. One of the agents at a United Club expressed frustration with this behavior because many times travelers do not carry their membership card. She was telling me that the staff at partner lounges need only to call any United Club Lounge by phone, and then the United Club staff member can verify my FF number in their system.
