As a FFer and a dad of FFer 2yo and 6yo, preboarding Kids is just dumb. Usually my wife preboards to settle in our backpacks and then I'll bring the kids onboard at the last minute. They are great travelers but the least amount of time on a plane is better for all.
I cringe when I see a mom with her NB or very young child preboard. Because the kid gets bored 2 minutes onboard and then mom starts to panic...then engine fires up and pressurized cabin and all hell breaks loose!
