Do you need to be flying on United, or a Star Alliance carrier, to enter the United Club if you have the Club Membership?

Here's a scenario that I am thinking of:
I currently have access to the United Club via the MileagePlus credit card. But I am booked to travel on a rival airline, say American Airlines. Would I be able to still use the United Club when I'm at the airport?

On United's website for club access, it does not specifically mention that you need to flying United or a Star Alliance carrier:
http://pss.united.com/web/en-US/cont...ge/access.aspx

So I'm wondering if this is possible or not.

Thanks,

If you're a member you can enter the club anytime by showing your membership card. No need to be flying on UA or a partner.
