The only way to get something back is to email customer care and explain the situation but it is up to their discretion I was told.
Once a cert is redeemed it can't be used again. I have had excellent responses from 1K Customer Care in situations concerning replacement of certs. When your flight was cancelled, didn't they offer to rebook it for a later time?
