so i decided to close my visa , since in august ill have yo pay the 85 dollar credit card fee. I asked if i could have my credit moved to my amex and they told me that due to new legislation, they could not do it. They first offered me an $85 statement credit, and after i declined and asked to close the card, they offered to give me 750 extra miles for every monthly 750 dollars i spend on the card. This is valid for the next 16 months. At this point i was caught off guard, but greed kicked in and I asked if they could sweeten the pot... They said that is the best they could do IF i took the statement credit. If i did not, i would get double miles on all purchases for the next 16 months.

After quick consideration i kept the card open and accepted the 750 extra miles for a 750 dollar spend... This will be my go to card and aa my go to airline for the next 16 months. Now, since i have 3 months to close the amex, i hope they offer the same deal with that card when i try to close it in the next month and a half.
