Help/Thoughts on Braunschweig in June

I have a work trip to Braunschweig coming up in two weeks. I'm pretty excited, although I know next to nothing about the town. So I'm hoping to gather some FT-garnered knowledge.

I'll be flying into HAJ and taking the Deutsche Bahn to Braunschweig's Hauptbahnhof. And I'll be staying at the Mövenpick Hotel. (This probably would not have been my first choice, but there is another large conference in town; and it was all that my travel department could book.) From there I will be traveling to the Technische Universität each day while I'm there.

Am I correct in thinking that I should take the M1 or M2 from the Hauptbahnhof to Hagenmarkt in order to get to the Mövenpick? And can I take the M3 from Hagenmarkt to get to the Universität? I cannot tell if Hagenmarkt is the best stop to be using for my daily trips.

I'd also like to know if there are any cool bars and/or restaurants I should be visiting! I've already read mention of the Oker Cabana here on FT. My mother-in-law found an old pictorial book of Braunschweig, which was published in 1970; I'm excited to compare what Braunschweig looks like in those pictures with how it looks today!

Of course, any and all help/advice/suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
