FAIL:
5/31 LH572 FRA-JNB. Call center said they couldn't see availability, even though I could see it on united.com. Then I tried to make a booking on the web site but the process failed after I clicked the "Reserve" button.
Keep calling back on FRA-JNB. Anytime I've seen the phantom seats on trips I wanted, they eventually opened.
Latest was friday when I booked LH 418 on 3 June. Saw it there thursday, called 5 times between thurs and friday, friday at 3p I was able to book it.
Also, if you are a UA MP member, as telephone agent to do a long sell request. In under a minute they'll here back from LH if the seat is real or not.
