Up until now, 35,000 status miles = AC*E = *G.

In 2013, assuming the 50,000 level is called Elite, AC*E will still mean *G.

I currently have 40,000 status miles. I was told today that until I hit 50,000, I will be in a weird place of early qualifying for AC*E but still remaining *S.

Does this make sense? I fully acknowledge that if I stopped collecting status miles right now, I would be *S for 2013, but I thought we were still in 2012.
