That said, could the CO FA in my story have had me arrested for disobeying her if she wanted to? And why would she really care if I wear shoes to the lav - yeah I know - it can be nasty. I don't go in if it looks bad.
Even if the FA is incorrectly spewing made up FARs, the moment they give you a "crew member instruction," (even a wrong one) it becomes an FAA violation to counter their directive.

Plus, this is not your living room, put your shoes on. Going to the lav in socks is disgusting.
