Hi there,
I have been reading through posts here and on some other sites and have realized I need to make sure I'm covered by insurance when I travel. I know tht sounds obvious to a lot of you, but hadn't really thought about it before! I used to travel mostly on a corporate AmEx that had very comprehensive benefits, and keep forgetting I now am on my own...
Right now I have a Chase Sapphire Preferred and a Merrill Lynch Visa. To be honest, am a bit confused by their insurance policies, and might just call their customer service lines to get some clarification. Am trying to figure out whether one of these cards already has a good enough policy, or if I should seek a 3rd card that fills in the gaps.
I'm thinking mostly of rental car insurance at the moment, since I don't have insurance (or a car!) of my own and occasionally have to rent a car during work travel for my new job. I know a lot of policies say they only function as secondary... but I don't have a primary. Does anyone know if one of my cards already suffices to cover me? I'm already considering getting a new card, so if my current cards do not suffice I want to make sure to address those gaps.
I saw a NYT article promoting the Discover Escape card bc it provides primary collision insurance and others don't. That's what got me thinking about this! Thanks for your help
