I stayed at the Berns- what a disaster- loud music from the disco on the terrace until 4 in the morning, indifferent service, just OK breakfast. I rate this hotel below 3 stars and I am being generous.

I agree that The Grand is the current best, especially when you take into account the 2 Michelin-starred restaurants. It's a very comfortable hotel with better service than most in Sweden, an excellent spa and great views. The current crop of contemporary hotels maybe fine if you are a twentysomething, but if you have grown out of disco, then The Grand is the one to go for.
