Securing my seatbelt when commanded by the flight deck, I tugged on the only available length of strapping I could find (I have more @#$% trouble caused by trapping seatbelts in UA's lie-flat biz seats---they seem
designed to eat the belts, buckle and all) until the buckle suddenly came loose from wherever it was caught and hit the glass of bubbly on the seat divider, sending a torrent onto my left pantleg and most of my seat-cushion.
Somehow not one drop landed on my boss seated next to me, but I sat on three blankets for the rest of the transpac, and it took several hours before seat and pants were anything like dry---even in dry cabin air.
I can't be taken anywhere nice...
