Maybe it's me, but I really don't think it is worth to get 35k Skymiles. Given their value, Delta should come up with a card that is at least worth 100-150k miles.

Just like any other miles/points, YMMV. For us, they are valuable considering that DL is one of the two dominant airlines in the airports accessible to us. Adding these 35K to her existing balance will give her enough for a BE redemption. The card will save at least $50 per trip in baggage fees. Expanding her relationship with American Express is another bonus. Therefore,
for us, this is a valuable offer. For those who live and have travel patterns that more closely match up with UA or AA would likely reach a different conclusion.
