They should aim for a couple minutes of pre-board time before they unleash the scrum.
On my last few flights they seem to be getting a bit better. At DEN last night they even cleared off the blue carpet so that GS members (about 4 of us) could board first along with about 6 military guys.
In the last few weeks it seems like ORD and LAX are the worst that I've been though. On Monday an ORD-DEN 777 was boarded "1K, Presidential Platinum, and Platinum Elite" first. No military or GS even mentioned. I find it so frustrating that these large hubs appear to be the worst at getting the boarding process right. You'd think if UA checks compliance with new processes the hubs would be the first place to look
