And, no, I was not looking for the word "expected"...I meant the word that I used - "hope". I don't think he (necessarily) expected an UG but he surely hoped for one, and perhaps that one of the FA's would have sympathy and want to keep a family together. He sat exactly where he should have, regardless of sick children.
Bingo, we have a mind reader among our members now too! N808DE knows what a stranger thought, what he hoped would happen, and what he should have purchased!

Whereas, in reality, the only thing we actually know is that the OP indeed sat where he was supposed to, did not complain about it, and did not ask to be upgraded. But that's a minor detail, because as a mind reader, N808DEknows best!

Gloating over someone's misfortune is anything but classy. But don't loose hope, there are well trained professionals that could help you. That you should have definitely done!
