I'm flying JFK-EZE followed by yet undetermined transit to GIG, before flying GIG-JFK.
I know that AA would be cranky (read: would not let me board) if I only had a one-way into Argentina. Is it OK for me to have my return from GIG -- or will I need to provide some evidence to AA that I'm leaving Argentina (eg: via Buquebus to Uruguay).
Thanks! Hoping to avoid unnecessary hassle at the airport.

The GIG-JFK ticket is enough. That already shows your intention to return to the US.

That's not true. Even though illegal immigration in Brazil is on the rise, that's not the reason. The reason is purely reciprocity against Spain. Spanish immigration at MAD has been continuously refusing entry to thousands of Brazilians annually, creating diplomatic tension between both countries for more than 5 years now. Many Brazilians are refused entry randomly and arbitrarily despite having all the required documents, so Brazil became the #1 nation with barred citizens in Spain. Spanish officials say that they follow Schengen guidelines, but no other Schengen country has similar refusal rate to what Spain is practising.
Since diplomatic discussions were not enough to solve the problem, Brazil is retaliating. The measure takes effect on Monday, April 2nd. Brazil is making sure, they are not fooling around and will bar Spaniards by the dozens.
