Jen,
While I strongly admire your idealism, it would appear you are taking this way too personally or being somewhat judgmental.
In no way is the proposal a violation of the terms of service, even if addressed to a "protected class," because it does not involve proscribed offensive conduct.
Did you read my comments posted 05-02-2003 05:07 PM on page 2 of the original thread?

How about the link from the Continental board about the repeated disrespect young elite travellers endure from airline personnel and fellow travellers alike?
The idea for an "Under 30 Do" ["Young Travelers Do" for the more politically correct] originated in the midst of a thread on the Continental board involving just such a sharing of the frequent minor disrespect shown to young elite frequent fliers compared to their elders.

I know, people in their thirties don't like to be considered "old," which is what I'm sure contributes to some of the angst and outrage.
I am pleased that most of the "victims" of these minor indignities are dealing with them in a humourous fashion, and trying to "commiserate" in a fun gathering with those who can relate to their
current experiences.
Think of it as AFFIRMATIVE ACTION for young, elite FlyerTalkers
I am well aware that affirmative action raises all kinds of opposition about reverse discrimination. However, this is not government sponsored "discrimination," but a self-help exercise of their First Amendment rights to freedom of association.
I am extremely concerned about the problems of rape and violence in our society.
But would it be "fair" if I insisted on barging in and trying to "help" a group of very recently traumatized female rape victims who had been invited to a gathering with the expectation that there would be no males to bring back flashbacks of that very recent trauma.
Hyperbole? Of course. Yet perhaps it will help promote understanding and make a point, and I apologize to anyone who may be offended, particularly given the outrageous levels of sexual violence and sin in our society.
My point, though, is that we shouldn't judge these young people, particularly if you don't know what they have gone through and you are a year "too old" (or whatever) yourself.
Give peace a chance!
(And since Saipan is too far away for the COE, perhaps you'd like to move your Do out here?)
