He had snail-mailed these to UA corporate a couple of weeks before and heard nothing except from our UA sales rep. offering comp. certs for the problems we had experienced

He was not looking for compensation...rather he was offering his 40 years experience as an airline executive and as a UA flyer (2-3K per year)
As Mrs. 1KPath commented..."as soon as a lawyer controls an organization, logic and experience are immediately discounted... this is rapidly disseminated to the rest of the organization resulting in the the attitude that he/she (the lawyer executive) knows best in spite of having gone to only a trade school...AKA law school"...and this from a J.D.,Ph.D. law school professor and Associate Dean who teaches business law! Her mantra has always been "in successful businesses, lawyers are support staff!"
Excellent post, sir. And your wife is 100% correct in her observations. One need only look at Congress (Senate and House) to see the truth of that statement.
