AMEX's standard protection is no different than other cards. However, AMEX allows you to purchase PREMIUM car rental insurance for $24.95/rental which provides $100,000 in theft and damage coverage, no deductible, and avoidance of filing a claim with your primary insurance carrier. However, keep in mind that all cc protection does NOT cover you for personal liability.
