you're not the only one. That's prety much my position. I believe the window shade belongs to the window seat, not the entire cabin. The thing about eyelids is that they function as shades pretty well for those that want to sleep.
I tend to agree...however during the day if am on the sunny side, I will experiment to see if the open window spoils the screen brightness...at night, may leave a couple of inches open as I do love to look at the lights from 36 K ft up.
