Seems I'm looking at ~$1800 from NYC. Departing from LAX seems to lower it slightly to about $1400 on Air Tahiti Nui. Having said that, I will see if I can just redeem AAdvantage miles for a RT flight.

toulousebloke: nice suggestion, seems that it's the low season and there are a couple of special fares!
