If you're flying from LAX-Hawaii on an AA 757, it's almost certainly the version without lie-flat seats. Checking the seat map (under "view available seats" on aa.com) will confirm this -- the "old" 757 has 22 or 24 recliner seats, the "new" one has 16 angled-flat seats.
