I'm a Platinum member, so I'm hoping we might get an upgrade if one becomes available, but I doubt it.

We've never spent NYE in times square, mainly because it looks pretty bad to stand there for hours with just port-a-potties for bathrooms, no drinks, and no where to warm up if it cold. Having a couple rooms at the Marquis seems like the perfect solution.

Has anyone ever done this? What did you think, was it worth it?
Are you able to go down to the street and then back into the hotel as you please? I'm assuming they would check to be sure you are actually staying at the hotel before letting you back inside.

What the typical maximum occupancy in the rooms? I'm not too concerned about this, and I know I can call the hotel to find out, but just figured I would throw it out there. I don't have that many people coming along.

Thanks in advance everyone!

Not to totally dissuade your plans, but I"m a born-and-raised New Yorker and I wouldn't wish NYE in Times Square on my worst enemy. It's really a complete mess and it's much more fun to watch it on the TV.

I'm not sure what your rate is at the Marquis but I'd strongly recommend getting a couple rooms at a much nicer hotel (think Ritz Central Park or the like) for a comparable price and enjoying the many things to do around Manhattan on New Years.

Just my two cents.
