I've managed to scoop up a couple rooms for us and some close friends at the NY Marriott Marquis for New Years Eve 2012. I just got these real quick to see if it was even possible, but now I'm looking for feedback as I (we) decide if we want to keep the reservation.

We've never spent NYE in times square, mainly because it looks pretty bad to stand there for hours with just port-a-potties for bathrooms, no drinks, and no where to warm up if it cold. Having a couple rooms at the Marquis seems like the perfect solution.

Has anyone ever done this? What did you think, was it worth it?
Are you able to go down to the street and then back into the hotel as you please? I'm assuming they would check to be sure you are actually staying at the hotel before letting you back inside.

What the typical maximum occupancy in the rooms? I'm not too concerned about this, and I know I can call the hotel to find out, but just figured I would throw it out there. I don't have that many people coming along.
