The Hilton Waikoloa has some wonderful rates for residents of Hawaii (so do a majority of hotels on Hawaii). Like anyone else, this is a great place to come and stay with your family...whether you are a resident of the Big Island or coming over from another island. It is much cheaper to take a trip over to a neighbor island for rest and relaxation than flying back to the mainland. It is wrong to assume that these people are anything other than guests. And the hotel might also sell day passes to use the facilities (not sure) but even if they do what is the problem with that?
From what I have read HWV does sell day passes - you get use of a room for the day and pool access for $160 for up to four people.
