FYI. From a AC communique.
"Automatic External Defibrillators (AED) Save Lives. It is estimated that many
lives could be saved if automatic external defibrillators (AED) were more widely
available at the time of an emergency. Air Canada recently proved the theory
true when we used an on-board AED to help save a customer’s life. En route to
London Heathrow, AC 8056 was diverted to St. John’s on May 17 when a 56-year-old
passenger went into cardiac arrest. Thanks to the efforts of the crew, on-board
medical experts and the AED, the patient was later released from a St. John’s
hospital. Air Canada is currently in the process of installing AEDs on our
aircraft, beginning with the A319 and A320 fleet."
Excellent initiative AC. Kudos.
