You can also look at Southwest's Shopping portal. They usually have promo's going on where you can get 2-20 miles per $ spent when using their shopping portal. An example, Target.com was 4 miles per $ on top of the 1 mile per $ if you use the credit card. So that would be a net 5 per $. I also remember seeing a promo for some flower company. You spend like $40.00 on flowers for your wife and you get like 500 bonus points or something like that. Moral of what I am saying, just look around and with $1,000 - $2,000 in "smart" spending, you can easily rack up the 10k points you need and this is spending that you might already be doing. The one thing I have noticed though, the shopping portal is pretty slow about giving you the points.
