This is a problem I have found with AA for years, legitimate diversions followed by inept rerouting and disastrous operating consequences, not to mention inconveniences to passengers. They seem to fixate only on sending planes to where they have their own handling.
You may possibly be operation on only a portion of the information that they have when they make that decision.
