Regarding weight restriction - the continental agent working the CDG-IAD #131 flight yesterday told me that if they learn about the potential problem early enough they do try to restrict passengers. She said they had a similar problem on CO #55 CDG-EWR on Jan. 2 but were solving that issue by offloading passengers (?) so that it wouldn't have to make a fuel stop.
they do know. Payloads are estimated and flight plans are done 3+ hours prior to departure.
