Cool Missing connecting flight (on purpose)

I know this may sound unusual for some, but here is the thing. I am planning a little trip to mainland US from Hawaii. I want to go to LA and when I looked at flights, they were about 300 dollars, but then I changed airport to nearby (maybe Burbank or San Diego), there was a flight for 170 dollars, which was connecting at LAX...

so the question is, can I just book this itinerary and just walk out in LAX instead of going to my connecting flight... I mean, i am sure I can walk out, but are they gonna charge me penalties on my credit card or anything like that? Am I going to get on wanted list? I understand I won't be able to check my bags in, right?
