Question regarding baggage and connectors in Europe
I am flying (American Airlines) from San Deigo to Sevilla, Spain, with stops in Chicago and Madrid. I have a planned eight hour stop in Madrid. When I arrive in Madrid, I wish to obtain my bags at baggage claim and then re-check them before the last leg to Sevilla. Question: Is this the usual procedure when flying from the U.S. to Sevilla through Madrid, or are the bags usually routed all the way through to Sevilla automatically. Secondly, can I instruct my baggage handler in San Diego that I want my bags off the plane in Madrid?
