Interesting for me that the military stopped wearing the tarboosh in 1950. My father used to sell sun shades to the army which would be put on the tarboosh for protection from the hot sun. But it must have been very hot wearing the tarboosh. No wonder they got rid of them.

Glad you liked my post! I did not know that there were attachments for the tarboosh- I wonder if I could get one somehow??

I read that the tarboosh is mainly bought by hotels for the bell hops and by older Egyptians. Tourists might buy them but this shop was not cheap and it was not in the tourist market or easy to find.
