I don't think those numbers add up actually is part of the problem ...

Rough, back of envelope numbers:

Population of World: 6 billion
Population of US: 250 million

% of World Population in US: 4%

I'm not saying the general principles of the numbers aren't right ... but they don't really add up as they are ...
