One of the things I really like about AC is that there are *almost* no free upgrades- by this I mean unlike american carriers that tend to upgrade regardless of fare X number of hours before departure, AC makes you request upgrades using eupgrades.

In my opinion, this keeps exec. somewhat exclusive, and gives pax with less status some hope of an upgrade! I know I'd seriously consider moving to westjet if this happened- I have to fly Tango +, and am Elite. Most of my flights are premium heavy, so upgrading is rare at best- this would make it impossible. Yes it does reward the top fliers more, but the rest would be alienated.
